STANDISH NOSES OUT SMITH FOR SPORT TITLE 24-23

Captures Spring Athletic Title From Smith by One Point

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

With the statistics of the spring Interdormitory athletic competitions completed, it was announced-last night by the Department of Physical Education that the Spring Championship was won by Standish Hall with a margin of only one point over Smith. Gore came in last, taking third place in everything except the handball series, in which it tied with Smith for second. The points stood Standish 24, Smith 23, and Gore 7.

Had Smith been able to win over Gore in this event, it would have tied the score with Standish at 24 points each. As it was, three firsts in baseball, crew, and handball, and three seconds--in track, tennis, and representation on the regular Freshman teams were sufficient to give Standish a one point margin.

Last spring, the championship was won by Smith Hall, and the championship for the whole year went to Gore.

The summary:   Standish  Smith  Gore Baseball  5  3  1 Track  3  5  1 Crew  5  3  1 Handball  5  2  2 Tennis  3  5  1 Numeral men  3  5  1 Total  24  23  7
