To the Editor of the CRIMSON:
I read with much interest the communication in your paper yesterday concerning a Harvard Scout Club. I, too, think it would be splendid, and I trust it will not be taken as an indication of a further militaristic spirit in the University. I am not a Scout myself, but I have had some experience with that sort of work in Geology 4 and 5, and I know some excellent hikes the club might take out towards Medford and Malden. I learned how to find the North Pole with or without a compass and how to crack rocks which should prove valuable if I ever get lost in the Arctic Ocean or go to jail. A Scout Club could go further and teach men semaphore so that they could understand what the little man in the bright red sweater does during football games.
However, I think great care should be used in selecting the Youth's Companion for the Union Library. It would be too bad to start this thing with the wrong sort of person. EUOENE REYNALS '24.
