In announcing the five million dollar gift from Mr. George F. Baker, Bishop William Lawrence '71 made public yesterday the following letter from the New York financier:
"My dear Bishop:
"As I told you I am much impressed with the undertaking Harvard is making to raise a fund for enlarging and perfecting certain branches of its activities. I am especially impressed with the determination to make the Graduate School of Business Administration of the very first importance in the country.
"As whatever distinction I may have attained in life has been principally from business experience, it would be a satisfaction and pleasure to help by contributing the five million dollars necessary to accomplish this.
"If this meets with your approval and with that of the authorities, I am prepared to take such steps as you may suggest to carry out the desire of the University and of your sincere friend.
