New London, Conn., June 15. A complete rest today for all oarsmen, followed the strenuous work-outs of Saturday. The "Corsair" and the "Vagrant" cruised Long Island Sound, all Red Top being entertained in one or the other of the yachts.
Yesterday was a day of racing for all four crews. The Seconds and Freshmen again went at it over the two-mile course, and again the Seconds finished in the van. Then the University crew came down the four-mile stretch, starting alone, but being raced for the last two miles by the Combination Eight.
The Freshmen had hoped to reap revenge for their recent defeat at the hands of the Junior University aggregation, but they were disappointed by a length and a half. It was a close battle, however, and the outcome is more to the credit of the Seconds than to the discredit of the 1927 eight.
Tomorrow the Yale first crew will visit Red Top while the Crimson Freshmen are calling on the other Elis at Gales Ferry.
