PROFESSOR TURNER WILLBE GUEST AT FAREWELL BANQUET

Students to Honor Him-Portrait to be Presented to University

Dr. Frederick Jackson Turner, Litt. D. '09, professor of history at the University since 1910, will be the guest of honor at a farewell banquet in the Harvard Club of Boston on Saturday, May 24, Dr. Turner is returning to his home in Portage, Wisconsin, the town made famous by Zona Gale, where he will devote himself to research and writing.

Dean Charles H. Haskins, G. '08, will act as toastmaster at the dinner, which is being tendered by past and present students of Dr. Turner. A number of prominent history professors have been invited, and several of them will speak.

A portrait of Dr. Turner, by Alexander James of Boston, will be presented to the University by the Frederick Jackson Turner Seminar, and will be hung in the History Seminary room of Widener Library.
