BASKETBALL TEAM ELECTS SAMBORSKI 1925 CAPTAIN

Adolph Walter Samborski '25 of West-field was elected captain of next year's basketball team when this season's quintet assembled at Notman's studio yesterday afternoon for the annual photograph. The vote was unanimous.

Samborski was a regular guard throughout the past season and a letter man the year before. He was also captain of the 1925 Freshman team. He has proved himself to be a steady, dependable man on the defense and an ever-dangerous scoring factor as well. An injured ankle kept him out of the greater part of the last Yale game, which the Crimson dropped by a single point.

Samborski's chance of captaining a victorious basketball team depend chiefly upon the development of players who can fill the shoes of Captain Lewis Gordon '24, J. L. Rudofsky '24, and I. G. Black '24. Gordon has for three years been the offensive mainstay of the team, and Rudofsky's brilliant defensive play was the feature of almost every game at Hemenway last winter. All three will be greatly missed.

W. T. Smith '26 and H. R. Jones '26 are likely to be the regular forwards next year. Samson Merriam '25, J. D. Leekley '27, who will probably be tried at forward rather than center, S. L. Eaton '27, and A. F. Eby '27 are other candidates of some promise.

Center will again be taken care of by C. J. Rauh '26 and J. L. Combs '26, letter-men this season. With Samborski in the guards positions will probably be either J. J. Maher '26 or J. S. Malick '27, and Captain E. L. Lightbourn '27 of the Freshman five is worthy of consideration.
