To the Editor of the CRIMSON:
The thirty pious pacifists who intend to bring on an epidemic of world peace by forswearing their most sacred obligations seem to be more jealous of their personal reputations than their lofty ideals.
Now if they object to being called "mock martyrs" they can easily convince the nation of their sincerity provided they do not lack one quality courage. A soldier, fighting for his country, is not ashamed to wear the uniform which identifies him with his cause. Would you, pacifists, heroes of a nobler (and safer) strife be ashamed to put on some uniform which would identify you with your principles?--a uniform say of bright yellow cloth with a cap set off by a gallant white feather.
This should advertise pacifism enormously. Yea, further, if some enterprising yellow robed apostle came in for rough handling he would immediately become a real martyr, make the yellow as glorious as the cross, found a new religion, or even get himself worshipped during the coming millenium. If not, at least such a uniform would serve very speedily to weed out the mock martyrs from the genuine 14 karat messiahs. ELISHA K. KANE 1G.
