"The British Labor Party and What It Stands For" will be the subject of a lecture by Mr. H. J. Golding in the Faculty Room of the Union at 7.30 o'clock tonight. The lecture will be open to all members of the University.
Mr. Golding has been lecturing in St. Louis, New York, Philadelphia, Boston and throughout the country since last fall when he came from England. He has lectured for 20 years in England on ethical, literary and philosophic subjects and has come into close personal contact with English political leaders.
Is On Inside of Labor Movement
An old member of the Fabian Society, the first socialist organization in England, which has become famous through two of its members, Mr. Sidney Webb and Mr. G. B. Shaw, Mr. Golding has had an exceptional opportunity to see from the inside the amazing growth of the British Labor Party. He is a member of the Rainbow Circle, the political group of liberal thinkers which includes among its members, Mr. J. Ramsay MacDonald, Lord Olivier, Mr. Noel Buxton and Mr. C. P. Trevellyan, all of whom are members of the cabinet of the present Labor Government.
Mr. Golding was for some time the vice-president of the English Ethical Union and has been delivering most of his lectures in this country under the auspices of Ethical Societies.
