VETERAN MILE RELAY TEAM MAY CAPTURE HIGH HONORS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

As a result of a week of intensive training, Coach Farrell announced last night the 20 men who will represent the University on Friday and Saturday of this week at the Penn Relay Carnival at Franklin Field, Philadelphia. About 100 athletes reported at Soldiers Field every day but Saturday of last week for practice. In general the coaches concentrated on speed in the morning and distance in the afternoon.

Good weather and a consequently good condition of the track attended the practice. Toward the end of the week, time trials were held for the runners and distance trials for the weight men and jumpers. Although Coach Farrell did not divulge any results, it was evident that he was well pleased with the prospects for the coming carnival.

Enter Medley Team

The Medley Relay team will be made up of J. N. Watters '26, R. G. Allen '26, J. E. Merrill '24, and either L. L., Robb '25 or J. H. Broome '26. This event and the hammer throw, in which P. E. Borglund '26 is the only entrant, will be held on Friday, which will necessitate those participants leaving Cambridge on Thursday.

Although W. S. Bristowe, captain of the Cambridge two-mile relay team, has been forced to withdraw from the carnival, the Englishmen will still be very dangerous foes in the sprints and mile relay event. R. G. Allen '26, J. E. Merrill '24, L. L., Robb '25, and F. P. Kane '26 will run for Harvard in the latter race, which will be held on Saturday.

J. N. Watters '26, W. L. Tibbetts Jr. '26, B. R. Cutcheon '25, and either A. L. Coburn Jr. '24 or W. L. Chapin Jr. '25 will run the four-mile relay.

In the javelin event F. K. Kernan '24 and R. M. C. Greenidge '24 are entered; in the discus event C. C. Carpenter '24 and R. H. Hallowell '25; in the shotput C. A. C. Eastman '24; and in the high and broad jumps R. L. Hyatt Jr. '24.
