After a prolonged session the Student Council rose at a late hour last night with--something accomplished!

In the past few years if such a meeting had sat for three hours it could only have been explained by an attack of sleeping sickness or a walkout of the alarm clocks. Last night it was due to the fact that there were too many ideas on too many subjects. The Council is to be congratulated on its activity and its accomplishments. Particularly, since they are what will last, on its accomplishments.

Of the several motions that were carried two stand out preeminently important--that providing for the reorganization of the Council itself, and that approving the report of the committee investigating managership systems. The first, more laudable because as unselfish as a self-denying ordinance, is eminently sane, reasonable and far-sighted. By the system that will go into effect this spring the Council will be so constituted as to be active, representative, and effective. The members of the reorganized body will be more in touch with the student body, more in touch with each other, more interested in considering and more capable of suggesting measures, programs or reforms. Best of all, perhaps, this reorganization is decided. It is a "fait accompli". Something and a great deal, has been done.

The second motion recommended a change which must be passed by the Athletic Committee before taking effect. But it is significant in itself as showing the beginning of a tendency to relegate extra-curricular activities to their proper relative positions as educational factors. Those who have lately doubted the student's wish to be educated may find assurance in the reasons put forward for abolishing senior managerships.

Consider the pendulum! For some time that of the Student Council has hung motionless, but suddenly it has begun to swing, and on its first sweep severs two Gordian knots!
