Abbott to Speak to History Club

Professor Wilbur C. Abbott, professor of History at the University since 1920, will speak at the next meeting of the History Club in Conant Hall Common Room tomorrow at 8 o'clock. The topic if his talk will be "On the Venerable Bede", who was the first English historian.

Professor Abbot took his degree of A. B. at Wabash College in 1892. He obtained his degree of B. Litt. at Oxford 1897, and was awarded an honorary A. M. degree at Yale in 1908.

Before coming to Harvard, he was professor of History at Dartmouth, the University of Kansas, and Yale. One of his best known books is "The Expansion of Europe", published in 1907.
