RIVAL FORCES READY FOR PACIFISM DEBATE

The question of pacifism, which recently commanded wide attention in the University as a result of the Student Volunteer Convention held in Indianapolis in January, will again come up for discussion when the Debating Union meets at 7.10 o'clock this evening in the Faculty Room of the Union consider the resolution, "Resolved: That no individual should, under any circumstances, participate in war." The meeting is open to all members of the University.

Leading the discussion on the affirmative side will be C. R. Brooks '26, Sterling Dow '25, and C. T. Lane '26. They will be opposed by Francis Birch '24, Oliver La Farge '24, and A. D. Phillips '26. Following the opening speeches the floor, as usual will be thrown open for discussion.

The question of non-participation in war will be debated from a thoroughly modern viewpoint. Members of both the Liberal Club and the Military Science Department are expected to attend the meeting, and should take an active part in the discussion. It is even understood that a resolution will be proposed from one side of the house advocating the abolition of the Military Science Department at Harvard.

In accordance with the new closure rule of the Debating Union, a vote on the resolution will be taken at 8.30 o'clock, unless it is voted to continue the discussion beyond the time limit.
