Ten bouts will be held in Hemenway gymnasium at 4 o'clock this afternoon in the preliminary rounds of the annual University boxing tournament. The finals and semi-finals will be held on Friday evening. So far, 31 out of the 47 who signed in the blue books have weighed in. Coach Shevlin announced last night that further entries could be made by weighing in today before 2 o'clock in Hemenway, but that such contestants could not box unless they had had a physical examination by Dr. D. C. Parmenter '13 in Wadsworth House.
"It is the plan of those in charge," announced Coach Shevlin, "to retain four men from each class for the semifinals and finals. In the case where there are not more than four men entered in one class there will be no preliminaries."
A limited number of tickets for the finals Friday are now on sale at the H. A. A. and Leavitt & Peirce's at $1.00 each for reserved seats and $.50 for standing room. The preliminaries today are open free of charge to all members of the University.
Conspicuous among the contestants are C. S. Forsythe '26, last year's bantam and featherweight champion, H. J. Freedman 1M., last year's lightweight champion, and G. E. W. Davis 2G.B., last year's welterweight champion, each of whom will defend his title.
The Freshman preliminaries, which were to have been held today have been postponed until a week from today. A 175-pound class has been added to Freshman tournament and a two-pound weight allowance announced.
