SPRING FOOTBALL WORK TO BEGIN ON APRIL 21

Will Last for 3 Weeks--80 Men Report at First Meeting--Fisher Stresses Importance of Academic Work

At a meeting of all football candidates last night at the Varsity Club Coach Fisher announced that spring practice would begin on April 21 and last for three weeks. The practice will be held every afternoon at 4 o'clock.

Eighty candidates, the largest number that have ever reported for spring practice, were present and more are expected to report in April.

Malcolm Whelen Greenough '25, captain-elect, encouraged those present to go out for spring practice, which he said would vitally effect next fall's success. Coach Fisher laid particular emphasis on the candidates' academic work. He also pointed out the fact that a Yale squad had begun to practice in January and the Princeton squad two weeks ago.

H. R. Hardwick '15 said that football was beneficial in four ways: the physical and mental training; the moral training; the opportunity of being an integral part of Harvard; and the business asset. "The term 'yellow'," he said, "can be as aptly applied to studies as to football. Failures in studies can usually be attributed to nothing but laziness and lack of ambition."
