"Any man who attempts to do all his outside reading is pretty sure to ruin his health," said an instructor in the English Department, who has reasons for not permitting the publication of his name. "A Sophomore friend of mine has been given a week's vacation to get over a case of nervous prostration, contracted in an attempt to do all the outside reading for English 41 and History 32.
"The authorities," he continued, "don't really expect students to give more than passing attention to the thousands of pages assigned. Anyone who sets out conscientiously to read everything he's told to read will soon find himself in the Infirmary. Don't try to do all your outside reading."
