SEES U. S. ON DOWN GRADE

"Democracy and Leadership" is the title of a book which Professor Irving Babbitt '89 has just finished writing. It is scheduled for publication within two months by Houghton Mifflin and Co.

In his book Professor Babbitt expounds his belief that since Democracy will necessarily be judged by other forms of government, the American trend will be fatal and will lead to decadent imperialism. This country's failure in leadership he attributes to the faults in our higher education where ethical standards have been undermined by utilitarian and sentimental tendencies.
