At the risk of crying "Wolf!" once too often it is necessary to predict another busy evening for the University basketball team when it encounters the dangerous New Hampshire State quintet at Hemenway tonight.
The visitors come down from Durham, N. H., with an enviable record which includes a 34 to 21 victory over the Mass. Aggies, a team which nosed out the Crimson by a 26 to 22 score. Even more impressive was their showing against M. I. T., for they buried the Engineers under a 51 to 7 avalanche, whereas Coach Wachter's players had only 1 26 to 16 margin over the Technology five. Last Saturday evening the New Hampshire quintet dropped a 26 to 24 overtime battle to Tufts, and the University players hope to given them another push on their downward course tonight.
If they hope to win, however, the home players must stop Metcalf, a sensational forward of brilliant achievements, who has brought his team to the fore many times this year, Rivalling Metcalf for high scorer is McKinley, the center, and Fernald has been a steady defensive guard.
It became known yesterday that Maher, the flashy University guard, has been advised to give up basketball for the season on account of his health. He has been a valuable substitute who has constantly threatened to break into the regular lineup.
