CRIMSON CROSS-COUNTRY MEN MAKE CLEAN SWEEP

Defeat Springfield College 23-25 as Freshmen Triumph 22-46--Tibbetts Leads University Field

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Despite forecasts to the contrary, neither Springfield's University or Freshman cross-country team gave its Crimson rival much trouble yesterday. The University meet went against the visitors, 22-35, while the Crimson Freshmen overwhelmed Springfield 1928, 22-46.

Had Captain Chapin, Cutcheon, and Harrison been entered yesterday, Springfield would probably have yielded the first five places in the major meet. Tibbetts won the event in 28 minutes and ten seconds with Swede a few seconds behind. At no time did Springfield threaten. Their first man took third and their last came in twelfth.

Captain O'Neill Takes Second Place

Corrigan of Springfield carried individual honors in the Freshman meet. He led O'Neil by four seconds, his time being 19 minutes flat, but O'Neil broke a shoe-lace in the last half-mile and this was largely responsible for his defeat. The second Springfield man took fifth place and then after a long string of Crimson runners, three Springfield men took twelfth, thirteenth, and fifteenth.

The men finished in the University meet as follows: Tibbetts (H), Swede (H), Corbin (S), Ryan (H), Maddan (S), Gordon (H), Cue (S), Donnell (S), Grossman (H), Kobes (H), Perkins (H), Jackson (S).

The men finished in the Freshman meet as follows: Corrigan (S), O'Neil (H), Lutman (H), King (H), Halloway (S), Murchie (H), Hall (H), Taylor (H), Stebbins (H), Jones (H), Shea (H), Evans (S), Deveney (S), Wolcott (H), Russell (S)
