An innovation in the method of selecting the members of the Dormitory Committees for the three Freshman Dormitories was announced last night by the Committee on Freshman Affairs of the Student Council.
According to B. F. Rice Bassett '25, chairman of the committe, the members of the dormitory committees for Gore, Smith, and Standish will be elected by the Freshmen of the various dormitories, instead of appointed by the proctors as in previous years.
To Announce Nominations Monday
Each dormitory committee will consist of four members of the dormitory, three resident and one non-resident. On Monday the nominations for these positions will be announced by the Student Council. Six residents and three non-residents will be named for each dormitory, and from these will be chosen the four members of the actual committee in the election on Thursday.
Additional names may be added to the official list of nominations by petition, it was announced. A petition signed by at least 40 members of a dormitory will be sufficient to nominate a candidate for membership on his dormitory committee, provided the list is turned in at 2 Grays Hall before 6 o'clock on Tuesday afternoon.
It is the duty of the dormitory committee to superintend the various activities of each hall. Smokers, meetings, and other Common Room activities are all directed by the members of the dormitory committee.
