WAR PREVENTION SUBJECT OF DEBATING UNION TALK

"War Prevention versus War Preparedness" will be Frederick J. Libby's topic, when he addresses the first meeting of the Debating Union in the Living Room of the Union tonight at 7.10 o'clock.

Mr. Libby has for many years been prominently identified with the war-prevention societies. He is at present the Executive Secretary of the National Council for the Prevention of War.

To Discuss Military Training

It was Mr. Libby who last summer brought forth from President Coolidge his famous letter defending the selection of September 12 as National Defense Day and thus bringing this topic to the attention of the nation. He will include in his speech the moot question of military training at schools and colleges in this country.

The Debating Union is inaugurating a new policy in opening its meeting with an address. It is a practice which, although foreign to Harvard, has been employed for many years at the Oxford Union.

Mr. Libby will speak for 45 minutes. The meeting will then be opened to discussion from the floor. Philip Walker '25, the President of the Debating Union, will preside. All members of the University may attend.
