FRESHMAN BASKETBALL MEN REPORT IN RECORD NUMBERS

Wachter Handles Squad for First Week--Then Drohan Will Take Charge

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The 1924-25 Freshman basketball season opened Monday with a record turnout of 50 men. Practice is being held daily in the Freshman Athletic Building under the direction of Coach Wachter, who is giving the first-year men the benefit of his instruction until next Monday, when the University team will start practice.

The regular coach of the 1928 team is F. E. Drohan 2L. Drohan was a star player on the Union College team before entering the Law School. He will take charge of the team next week.

The squad is at present being drilled in the fundamentals of the game, such as passing and dribbling the ball. No scrimmage has been held yet, but teams will be formed and practice games will begin the latter part of next week.

Men who still wish to report for the squad may join it any afternoon at the Freshman Athletic Building. The first cut will occur next week, and the squad will finally be cut to about 20 men at the beginning of the regular schedule of games.
