The University debating season will be officially opened at trials to be held tomorrow evening at 7 o'clock in Harvard Hall. All undergraduates in the college are eligible for the team.
Men wishing to try for the team will be asked to prepare a five minute speech on some topic directly connected with the subject of this year's debate: "Resolved: that the formation of a third major political party would advance the cause of representative government in the United States." The judges will consider the candidate's ability as shown by his platform presence, the force of his argument, and the quality and tone of his voice. Twelve men will be chosen at the trials tomorrow night.
As the first debate with Brown and Amherst wil come on December 6, work on briefs and speeches will begin immediately after the choice of the squad, which will consist of 12 men.
