In illustration of the history of engraving a number of unusually fine examples of prints have been placed on exhibition in the Print Room of the Fogg Museum. The collection includes early German and Italian colored wood cuts, work of Durer, Holbein, Rembrandt, Mantegna, Manet, and other French, Italian, Dutch, and English masters.
There is also shown in the exhibition a case containing examples of the tools used in engraving and etching, and the processes themselves are explained and illustrated in great detail. The exhibition has been arranged with reference to the course in the History of Engraving and Etching (Fine Arts 5f) given by Professor P. J. Sachs '00, Director of the Museum, and will probably remain until the middle of October.
