DAILY GAMES TO FEATURE FALL BASEBALL PRACTICE

Coach Davidson Divides All Candidates Into Two Squads to Furnish Regular Competition by Scheduled Contests

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

With the division of the 30 candidates into two squads, and the commencement of daily games between them, fall baseball is giving Soldiers Field every appearance of spring. Coaches Mitchell and Davidson are omitting no feature of the spring training schedule, and the program they have established will be continued until the weather relegates baseball to the shelf for the winter.

Each of the two teams is given ten minutes of fielding practice and the same amount of batting practice every afternoon. A six or seven inning game between teams A and B winds up the practice.

Team A More Imposing

The coaches have so divided the squad that at present team A has a more imposing line-up, on the basis of past performance, than team B. To offset the number of second and 1927 team men on the A nine, C. P. Clifford '27, one of the most promising hurlers on the squad, has been assigned to team B. The result is that the daily games are fairly close. Yesterday's went to the first team by the score of 5 to 4 in a seven inning game.

The two teams will be changed daily. They lined up yesterday as follows:

Team A.--M. F. Amsden, r.f.; Richard Keene '26, 2b.; C. L. Todd Jr. '26, l.f.; Willard Howard '27, s.s.; J. D. Cotter '26, c.; C. O. Erickson, 3b.; R. H. Field '26, 1b.; Howes Burton '26, c.f.; R. J. Dunkle Jr. '27, and Solomon Andrews '27, p.

Team B.--C. S. Grose '27, s.s.; Butler Cox '27, 3b.; W. P. Ellison '27, 1b.; J. E. Knowlton '26, 2b.; S. L. Steevens '25, l.f.; R. T. Flood '27, c.f.; H. R. Jones '26, c.; J. H. Broome '26, r.f.; C. P. Clifford '27, p.
