SACK AND HEARD STAR AS GORE DEFEATS STANDISH 27 TO 0

Standish Eleven Weakens in, Second Half of First Interdormitory Game

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The defeat yesterday of the Standish Hall dormitory football team by the Gore Hall team 27 to 0 marked the beginning of the annual interdormitory series.

Throughout the first quarter neither side scored. Time and again Gore carried the ball the length of the field, only to be stopped on the five yard line by the Standish team. The second quarter was much the same, but the black-shirted men from Standish were weakening fast, and towards the end of the period Sack scored on a forward pass. Heard kicked the goal, and then the half ended.

Gore stared off well in the second half by scoring a second touchdown in the first five minutes of play. Heard, the quarterback, carried the ball over the line and afterwards kicked the goal, making the score 14 to 0. Soon after this Heard intercepted a pass and ran for his second touchdown, again kicking the goal. After this Standish held Gore in the middle of the field, largely by the work of Captain Lee, the left guard, just before the close of the game, however, Sack scored again on a pass from Heard. This ended the scoring for the game, Gore having rolled up a total of 27 points to 0 for Standish.

On Thursday afternoon Standish will play Smith in the second game of the three-game series.
