First place in the annual competition for the Topiarian Club Trophy, open to students in the School of Landscape Architecture, was awarded last night to Carol Fulkerson 1S.L.A., of Marion, Iowa. Second and third places went to Stuart Constable 2S.L.A., of Columbus, Ohio, and Butler Stevens Sturtevant 2S.L.A., of Los Angeles, California. Clarence D. Platt 2S.L.A., of Oelwein, Iowa, received honorable mention; and Thomas Dolliver Church 2S.L.A., of Berkeley, California, second mention. The problem consisted of the detailed development of a group of house lots.

The thirty drawings submitted were judged yesterday afternoon by a jury consisting of Mr. James L. Greenleaf, president of the American Society of Landscape Architects, Mr. Robert W. Beal M.L.A. '13, of Boston, Professor H. V. Hubbard '97, a member of the firm of Olmsted Brothers, and Professor J. S. Pray '95, chairman of the School of Landscape Architecture.

This is the thirteenth competition for the trophy which was given to the Topiarian Club by an unknown donor, and is competed for annually. The name of the winner is inscribed on the trophy, of which he has the custody until the next competition.

This year as a special event, the winner of second place received a prize in the form of a framed photograph of a Spanish patio, from Professor J. W. Gregg of the University of California, one of last year's jury.
