Edgar Louis Lightbourn '27 of St. Paul, Minn., was elected captain of the Freshman basketball team Saturday after the victory over Tilton Seminary. The new captain will lead his team for the first time in a practice game against the University team at Hemenway Gymnasium this afternoon.
Lightbourn prepared for college at the Mechanics Arts High School of St. Paul, where he played football and basketball. He has played regularly on the Freshman quintet since the beginning of the season. His defensive work as standing guard has stood out in all three games which the Freshmen have played.
Coach Chase used a new method in regard to the captaincy election this year. He appointed a different man to act as captain in each of the three games, and the election was held after the third contest.
