Pacifistic remarks made on Friday at the Liberal Club by Mr. Stanley High, an editor of the Christian Science Monitor, had the immediate effect of adding another name to the already large enrollment of the Military Science department, it was learned yesterday from Lieutenant Colonel W. S. Browning, head of the department.
In an account of his speech in the CRIMSON Saturday, Mr. light was reported to have said that he would refuse to go to any future war and urged passive resistance for the entire country.
Shortly after nine o'clock on Saturday morning, a Freshman hurried into the office of the Military Science department, declaring that he had just read the report of Mr. High's speech and wished to enroll at once for a commission.
"Even if he won't fight in the next war," he said, "I will."
The new applicant was admitted to the department and will begin his military training in the second half year.
