GERMAN ECONOMIST TO DISCUSS WORLD AFFAIRS

Professor von Schulze-Gaevernitz Was Prominent Left-Wing Member of Reichstag--Helped Draft Constitution

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Professor Gerhart von Schulze-Gaevernitz of the University of Freiburg will present to the University today the point of view of German economists on present-day economic problems in a lecture on "world Economics Before the World War and After". The lecture, which is under the auspices of the Liberal Club, will be in Emerson J at 4.30, and will be open to all members of the University.

Professor von Schulze-Gaevernitz, besides being a distinguished author and teacher, has long been prominent in German political life. He was one of the leading spirits in the drafting of the present Republican constitution, and has for years been a member of the Reichstag. During the war, he was one of the first men to criticise the U-boat warfare and the military police of his country, and his conduct brought upon him severe attacks from Ludendorff and other military leaders. He was one of the leaders of the old "Progressive Popular" party, which opposed Socialism but at the same time was thoroughly democratic.
