Harvard Still On Track To Reach Fossil Fuel-Neutral Status by 2026, Sustainability Report Finds
In a contest marked by poor shooting on the part of both teams, the Harvard quintet triumphed over M. I. T. last night by a 26 to 16 score. The Crimson had countless scoring opportunities, and on the basis of the floor game alone should have won by 30 points. The offense collapsed under the basket, however, and time after time easy shots were missed.
Defensively the Harvard team was good. The Engineers were continually halted half way down the floor and forced to resort to long shots, almost all of which went wild. As usual, Rudofsky provided the defensive features. Two and even three Tech men coming down the floor continually found him an impassable barrier.
The Crimson players showed a happy faculty of getting the ball out of scrimmage. Their passing was also good, especially with Maher in the line-up. He replaced Samborski late in the first period and finished the game His floor-work was excellent.
The M. I. T. team was weaker than had been expected, largely perhaps because of Captain Cook's absence. He entered the game in the closing minutes and did good work despite his injured leg.
The summary: Score, Harvard 26, M. I. T. 16. Goals from the floor, Smith 5, Gordon 4, Rudofsky 2, Davidson 3, Simonds, Ruff, Lankton. Goals from fouls, Combs 2, Gordon Samborski, Forrester 2, Ruff, Johnson Referee, W. F. Coady. Umpire, P. J. McLaughlin. Time, 20 minute halves.
