Harvard shut out Tech 7 to 0 last night in a game of many stops and substitutes.
The Harvard forwards and goal-guard Massey provided the entertainment throughout the evening. The M. I. T. team had little opportunity to wear itself out as the puck spent most of its time deep in the Engineers' territory. Massey won rounds of applause and laughter for his debonair but effective stops. In the first period he made 23, in the second 19, and in the third 8 for a total of 50. This is within ten of the Arena record.
His uncanny accuracy in the first period held the Crimson to a single tally, the result of a quick feint by Beals. Half way through the second session, however, he began to weaken, and there-after was not such a riddle to the University skaters. Several times he dropped flat and saved scores from scrimmages at his door-step. On three occasions Referee Sands ordered a face-off only three feet from the net, but each time the Tech goal-tend pulled out safely.
Half way through the second period Hill took a shot at the Tech cage which Massey deflected, but Beals bore down and drove the rebound home. This score served to break the ice, for the Crimson tallied twice in the next two minutes. Howe added another point just before the gong ended the period.
In the last session the best scoring exhibition of team play occured when Beals took a pass from Hodder at quarter ice, skated to the cage, and then passed out in front to the latter, who scored on a quick shot. Gardner made the last tally three minutes before the end of the game.
