TUFTS' VETERAN TEAM MAY HALT NINE TODAY

This afternoon at 3 o'clock at Medford, the University baseball team will attempt to retaliate for the 7 to 6 defeat it suffered last year at the hands of Tufts, this being the last test before the Crimson faces Yale next Tuesday.

On Thursday, Coach Slattery gave his, team a rest, taking it to the Red Sox game. Yesterday a light practice worked the team into condition for today's contest.

Jenkins has suffered minor injuries that may prevent him from participating in the game, in which case his position at short will be filled by F. S. Hill '24. The former is expected back in the line-up next week, however, and will play in the Yale game. Coach Slattery has not yet decided who will start on the mound, but Bemis is the most probable choice, with Herrmann as relief pitcher.

Tufts has an experienced nine that should offer stiff opposition, having won 13 of its 21 games so far this season. Yale it easily defeated by a 15 to 9 count, but it has suffered two defeats at the hands of both Holy Cross and Boston College, Boston University, Bates, Wesleyan, and Fordham were all on its list of victims.

In spite of the fact that the last four games have been defeats, Tufts will be greatly strengthened by the return of Morrell, a veteran of three years' experience in the box, who has been ineligible for the greater part of the season. He will start the game on the mound, while Kroog, the most promising substitute pitcher, will be held in reserve.

Besides Morrell, the team has been built around five veterans, all with at least two years' experience, who are Crowley, Tierrell, Loud, Roach, and Captain White. Loud and Captain White have both played on the team for three years.
