The formation of an alumni found for the purpose of supplying financial guarantees to the University Debating Union was announced last night by R.S. Bowers '24, president of the Debating Union. The debating team has been handicapped in past years by the lack of financial support, and, at the suggestion of Professor G. P. Barker '87, a plan was drawn up to raise $250 annually for three years from alumni who were interested in debating while in college.
This amount, it is estimated, would put the Union on a firm footing in the immediate future and might well lead up to a permanent fund later.
