8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
Red Top, Conn., June 11.--The second week of rowing for the Crimson crews got under way today with a full schedule for each group of oarsmen. The men had a rest over the week-end when they went out into the sound aboard the "Corsair", and the coaches felt that after the lay-off today's program should be strenuous.
Morning practice for the University crew consisted of a stiff six-mile paddle, down-stream to the three-mile mark and back. Several starts were tried, and the men rowed in pairs and fours over a large part of the distance. Seven miles was their portion in the afternoon. Coach Muller taking them over the greater part of the course at a 28 stroke.
The Junior crew had much the same schedule, except for a longer paddle just before supper.
Coach Bert Haines took the Freshmen for a three-mile row before lunch, finishing off the day's practice with an easy work-out late this afternoon.
No changes have been made in any of the crews, but the next few days, with time trials on the program, should furnish a better basis for decision as to the merits of the various oarsmen.
