Defeat Oakley Country Club With Loss of But One Match

The University tennis team easily overcame the Oakley Country Club Saturday afternoon in Watertown by the score of seven matches to one. Oakley scored on point when Chase defeated Dixon 6-4, 4-6, 10-8; otherwise the University players had things much their own way, winning their seven matches in straight sets. Kent and Oakley gave Briggs a stiff combat, losing only after two hard-fought sets, 10-8, 6-4. The third doubles match was not finished.

The results of the matches played Saturday follow:

Singles.--Ingraham '25 defeated Vickery, 6-2, 6-1: Guild '23 defeated Goodrich, 6-4, 6-3: Briggs '25 defeat Kent, 10-8, 6-4: Pfaffman '24 defeated Wellington, 6-3, 6-4: Chase defeated Dixon '25, 6-4, 4-6, 10-8: Bondi '25 defeated Murphy, 6-2, 6-3.

Doubles.--Ingraham and Duane '23 defeated Vickery and Murphy, 6-1, 6-4: Guild and Pfaffman defeated Kent and Wellington, 6-2, 6-3.
