Blue Takes Morning Foursome, and Four Afternoon Singles Matches

NOYATT, R. I., May 30,--The Yale golf team defeated the University here this afternoon by five matches to four at the Rhode Island Country Club. The Yale team secured its victory by winning four of the six singles matches in the afternoon, after Lovell and McMahon had defeated Hodder and Williams 2 and 1 in the morning foursome matches.

The individual scores of the players in the morning matches determined their rating in the afternoon. The best score of the morning was made by Pierson who turned in a card of 75, Clough getting a 77 and Mapes a 78. Only two Crimson players made the course in less than 80 in the singles matches. Mapes, who was defeated by Cummings of Yale got a 77 while Hodder had a 79. Three Yale players also turned in cards of from 76 to 79 in the singles matches.
