In a meet featured by six record-breaking performances, the Princeton track team Saturday afternoon swamped the University athletes in the annual dual meet by gathering 85 1-2 points to 49 1-2 for the Crimson. Two of the record times, however, that of 9 4-5 seconds made by McKim of Princeton in the 100-yard dash and of 23 3-5 seconds made by Taylor of Princeton in the 220-yard low hurdles, will not be permitted to stand because of the strong favoring wind, it was announced last night by Mr. Albert Geiger Jr., the referee.
Four new dual meet records, one of which betters the best intercollegiate mark, were officially established. Hills, of Princeton, putting the 16-pound shot 49 feet 3-4 inch, bettered the old dual competition mark held by Tolbert of Harvard and Halsey of Princeton by 4 feet 5 3-4 inches, and added two inches to the best distance ever recorded in an intercollegiate contest.
The three other records fell to Crimson track men, Captain Burke lowering the dual meet time in the mile, and Greenidge and Carpenter, in the javelin and discus events, respectively, bettering both dual meet and Harvard College records. Burke's time of 4 minutes 24 seconds was 2 1-5 seconds better than the mark made by McCulloch of Princeton in 1920. Greenidge, with a javelin throw of 180 feet 6 inches, bettered his own dual meet and college record by 13 feet 8 inches, while Carpenter, whose distance in the discus was 130 feet 9 inches added 2 feet 3 inches to the dual meet record and 5 1-8 inches to the college record.
The individual stars of the meet were for the Tigers Taylor, who won the 440-yard run, 220-yard hurdles, and broad jump, and McKim, who took both of the dashes, while for the University the outstanding performer in addition to Carpenter and Greenidge, was Captain Burke, who won the mile and took second in the half.
