Joie Ray Declines H. A. A.'s Invitation

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Joie Ray, national amateur champion miler, has been compelled to refuse the Athletic Association's invitation to compete in the open handicap track meet at Soldiers Field on June 9, because of accepting a previous invitation to compete in the Notre Dame meet at South Bend, Indiana, on the same day.

Mr. F. W. Moore '93 yesterday received a letter from Mr. Charles Dean of the Illinois A. C., stating that Ray would accept the Athletic Association's invitation.

Later in the day, however, a telegram was received from Ray himself stating that he would not be able to come East on June 9 on account of his previous engagement.
