In its initial contest this season, the Freshman Golf team defeated Newton High School at Oakley by the narrow margin of 3 to 2. Unfavorable weather conditions interfered with the matches, so that the scores turned in were not as low as had been expected.

Immediately after the match, Charles Jefferson Henderson of Reno, Nev., who played right wing on the Freshman hockey team, was elected captain of the team.

The summary of the matches follows: Captain Stimpson (N) defeated Richard Keene, 4 and 3; J. W. Allen (H) defeated Lowell (N), 3 and 2; Captain C. J. Henderson (H) defeated Willing (N), 1 up (at nineteenth hole); Donnelly (N) defeated Kennard Woodworth (H), 4 and 3; J. S. Grimes (H) defeated Arnold (N), 2 up.
