FRESHMAN DEBATERS IN TRIAL TESTS TONIGHT

To Meet in Harvard 5 at 7 o'clock--Nine Will Be Retained as Nucleus of Team to Face Yale 1926 on May 5

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

At the trials for the Freshman triangular debate this evening at seven o'clock in Harvard 5, nine men will be retained by Coach Philip Walker '25. The latter will be assisted in the selection of these men by R. S. Fanning '23 and J. C. Hover '23. There will be an opportunity for all Freshmen who can not appear at Harvard 5 this evening to make arrangements with Coach Walker at Weld 43 for a trial.

The preliminary subject for the debate is "Resolved: That the United States should act with her former Allies in revising the Versailles Treaty." Each man is allotted five minutes for speaking and he will be allowed to take any attitude toward the subject that he wishes.

The final working of the above subject has not yet been decided, but Yale, whose duty it is to work the question, will probably report on the matter in the near future. The actual topic was selected by the Harvard Debating Council.

The debate itself has been set for Saturday evening, May 5. The Freshmen will support the negative side of the question at Senders Theatre and the affirmative at New Haven.

Next Monday, April 9, the 1926 managership competition will open with the positions of manager and first assistant to be filled. The competition will continue to the day of the debate, but no work will be required during the spring recess. The manager will accompany the affirmative team to Yale.
