Memorial Church Reduces Programming Amid University Budget Cuts
Coach Muller is devoting this week to trying out different combinations in the three University crews, several changes being made every day in an attempt to discover the strongest permanent seating arrangement. Yesterday the crews rowed about ten miles and three or four temporary combinations were used.
The 1925 first 150-pound crew captured a very close informal one-mile race from the first combination, winning by less than half a length. The two boats were on even terms until the last 300 yards, when the Sophomores pushed into the lead, still gaining as the crews flashed past the finish line.
Every crew, both from Newell and from Weld boat houses, went on the water during the afternoon, most of them having long work-outs. The Freshman Red, Blue, White, and Black crews rowed eight miles under the direction of Coach Bert Haines.
