WILL COMPETE FOR SEARS PRIZES ON APRIL 25

Contestants Will Speak on Efficacy of Public School System--Will Probably Compete in Sanders Theatre

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

It was announced yesterday that the competition for the Sears Prizes will be held on April 25, from 10 to 12 o'clock in the morning and from 3 to 5 o'clock in the afternoon, probably in Sanders Theatre. The judges will be Professor H. W. Holmes '03, Dean of the Graduate School of Education, and two other members of the Faculty of that school, to be selected later. The discussion will be open to the public.

Mr. Richard Sears '91 has offered these prizes for the past two years and intends to offer them yearly through 1925. This year a first prize of $100 and a second prize of $25 will be given for the best discussions of the subject "Do the Public Schools Really Educate the People?"

Competition is open only to those undergraduates who have already applied for admission to the contest. About twenty-five minutes will be allowed for each presentation.

All the arrangements for the competition are in the hands of Dean Holmes. A list of pertinent material has been prepared and sent to each of the contestants, and the Library of the Graduate School of Education is at their disposal.
