1926 CREW SCORES WIN OVER UNION B. C. AND UNIVERSITY C

The powerful Freshman "Black" crew, rowing two beats below their opponents throughout the distance, won handily in a three-cornered race yesterday afternoon over the Henley course of a mile and five-sixteenths. The Union Boat Club crew was in second place, a length and a half behind, while University C finished a close third, losing second place by a matter of inches.

The race between the last two crews was very close throughout, but both were outclassed by the Freshmen. The Black crew, capturing an early lead, gained steadily for the first half-mile, and managed to hold its lead to the finish without increasing its stroke appreciably.

Sophomore crew A and crew X were the victors in other informal races over the Henley distance. The Sophomore first crew defeated 1925 B by about three-quarters of a length, holding the lead from the start, while crew X won from Sophomore C by a few feet.

The Freshman first, second, and third crews are to be contestants today over the Henley distance of a mile and five-sixteenths. This will be the first time they have raced over the longer course in the Charles Basin.
