Eighteen men reported yesterday afternoon at the Freshman gymnasium building for the first indoor practice of the University tennis season. This number does not include the squad of nine men which has been practicing during the winter at the courts of the Long-wood Cricket Club.
Practice at the gym today was carried on under the direction of Coach Harry Cowles and consisted for the most part of drill in the fundamentals of foot-work and stroke technique. Beginning Monday a net will be placed in the gym and the men will play regular doubles matches three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
At present the building is available for the tennis squad only six hours a week, but as the Freshman use of the building becomes less time will probably be increased.
