"Leonardo da Vinci and the Beginning of Modern Painting" will be the subject of a lecture by Professor G. H. Edgell '09 in the New Lecture Hall at 4.30 o'clock this afternoon. The lecture will be illustrated by stereopticon slides. This will be the fourth of the series of eight Monday afternoon lectures being conducted for the benefit of the Radcliffe Endowment Fund. Tickets for the lecture may be bought at the door for $1.50 by those who have not secured tickets for the series. The lecture is open to the public.
Professor Edgell is an authority on art in the early Renaissance. He was an assistant and instructor in Fine Arts at the University until he was made an associate professor in 1913. He is the author of "A History of Architecture" and during the war was on the Italian General Staff as the American member of the Inter-Allied Commission for Propaganda.
The first three lectures of the series were given by Professor J. L. Lowes G. '03, of the Department of English, Professor G. H. Parker '87, of the Department of Zoology, and Professor F. W. Taussig '79, Henry Lee Professor of Economics. Next week H. S. Langfeld, Assistant Professor of Psychology will lecture on the "Measurement of Intelligence".
