SIX TO COMPETE IN TRACK MEET TONIGHT

Six University track men left yesterday afternoon with Coach Martin and Manager C. V. Chandler '23 for Philadelphia, where they will compete tonight in the Meadowbrook Club annual indoor meet. This is the last outside contest of the winter season for the track team, their work being brought to a close Thursday at the University annual track carnival at Soldiers Field.

The Crimson will start a one-mile relay team, composed of Captain J. W. Burke '23, A. H. Gordon '23, J. E. Merrill '24, and J. S. Murphy '25, against Princeton and Syracuse. The Syracuse team won the indoor intercollegiate mile relay last week in New York, and is favored slightly tonight. It is expected that the final leg of the race, between Captain J. W. Burke '23, Allen Woodring of Syracuse, the Olympic 200 meter champion, and Courtney Taylor, Princeton, will show some excellent running.

Captain Burke will also run in the invitation Meadowbrook 660-yard race for the President's cup. Although it has been announced that Helfrich, the Penn State star, will be unable to take part, the Crimson leader is expected to encounter some very stiff opposition in this event. C. A. C. Eastman '23 will represent the University in the shot put tonight. He has been doing very well with the 16 pound shot recently, and should do good work tonight, unless the change to the 12-pound weight, which will be used tonight, bothers him. In the triangular meet with Cornell and Dartmouth, Eastman won the shot put with a heave of 42 feet 5 1-2 inches, and placed second in the same event in the indoor intercollegiates a week ago. C. R. Hauers '23, intercollegiate outdoor champion in the hurdles, will also run for the Crimson.
