The Scott Club of the Law School yesterday evening eliminated the Hudson Club from the second year Ames Competition, and thereby qualified for the semifinals, which will be held next fall. Scott was represented by P. D. Miller 2L and David Stoffer 2L., arguing for the plaintiff in a case in trust law. The losing defendants were W. L. Marcy Jr. 2L, and Albert Welsbord 2L.
The eight clubs which are competing for the right to take part in the semifinals-next fall now stand in the following order: The round will continue until Thursday night, each one of these clubs opposing one of the others in a mock trial. The four winners will take part in the semi-finals next fall, and the two winners of these semi-finals will oppose each other in the finals about a month later. This evening at 8 o'clock in Austin East, the Pound Club, represented by D. D. Crystal 2L, and H. M. Lovett 2L., will argue against the Marshall Club, whose representatives will be W. M. V. Hoffman 'Jr 2L, and E. C. Johnson 2L., in a case involving the nature of wills. Pound will argue as the plaintiff, and Marshall as the defendant. Professor Joseph Warren '97 will act as Chief Justice, and his associates on the bench will be Messrs. Robert Cutler '16 and John Thomas Noonan '19. Tomorrow and Thursday evenings, George Gray, Beale, Ames-Gray, and Chafee will argue against one another. These eight clubs were picked as a result of a competition that began last fall in which some 23 clubs started. The organizations which failed to get into the first eight are now out of the competition.
