Harvard Still On Track To Reach Fossil Fuel-Neutral Status by 2026, Sustainability Report Finds
The Freshman basketball team won an unexpected victory last Saturday afternoon by defeating Worcester Academy quintet 25-16. The school-boys jumped off to a 9-6 lead in the early minutes of the first half but were unable to hold it, and the end of the period found them trailing 11-9.
The visitors could not successfully cope with the perfected system of attack developed in the Crimson forward line. Team-work featured in almost every basket. Captain Jones and Smith scored frequently, totalling 21 of the Freshmen's points.
For the visitors, Hardy's shooting was phenomenal and would probably have registered more points but for the excellent defensive play of Reed and Elberfeld.
The summary: Score, Harvard 1926 25, Worcester 16. Goals from floor, Jones 4, Smith 4, Elberfeld, Skilling, Hardy 3, Carmody, O'Connell. Goals from fouls, Smith 5, O'Connell 6. Referee, Mullen. Time-keeper, Prince. Time of halves, 20 minutes.
