PROFESSOR G. H. PALMER WILL LECTURE ON LIFE AND WORKS OF HOMER

Professor G. H. Palmer '64 will deliver the first of a series of four lectures by University professors this afternoon at 4.30 o'clock in Emerson D. The remaining three lectures will be given on successive Wednesday afternoons.

The subject of Professor Palmer's lectures will be the "Life and Works of Homer", and he will supplement his points by readings from his own translations of Homer's poetry. He has been for 40 years a professor of Philosophy at the University and is the author of several famous books, the best known of which are probably "Self Cultivation in English" and "The New Education."

Professor E. K. Rand '94 will speak on February 21 on Virgil, and on February 28, Professor C. H. Grandgent '83 will talk on Dante. Professor J. L. Lowes '03 will give the last of the series of lectures on March 7, with Milton as his subject.

Although these lectures are planned primarily for students concentrating in Ancient or Modern Literature, to furnish some guide and suggestion for their private study, they are open to all members of the University and Radcliffe College. No tickets will be required for admission.
