This evening at 8.30 o'clock at the Arena, the University hockey team will face the fast and powerful St. Nicholas Hockey Club sextet. This game will be part of a double header, the first contest of which, between the B. A. A. and the New Haven Hockey Club, will start at 8.15 o'clock. The two contests will then alternate.
The St. Nicholas team, in spite of its handicap because of a lack of sufficient facilities for hockey in New York, has built up an organization whose main strength lies in its defense, supplemented by an ability on the part of the forward line to take advantage of opponents' mistakes. The strongest link in this defense is Jabish Holmes Jr. '21 in the net whose work, both while a member of the Crimson sextet and since, has been little short of remarkable. His work has more than once been responsible for saving his team from defeat. Baldwin and Walker, with von Bierwirth relieving them, have shown themselves capable defense men. Next to Holmes, the outstanding player on the team is undoubtedly Bierwirth, former Yale captain, whose work this year has shown speed, versatility and resourcefulness. R. W. Buntin '21, who played on Holmes team at the University, and Henriques, the other forward-line player, are not far behind Bierwirth in general ability.
Coach Claflin of the University sextet will use the line-up that started against M. I. T. Milwaukee, and B. A. A., except that Flint will play at goal instead of Bigelow. This will be Flint's first game since he was injured shortly after the Yale game. Contrary to expectations. Larocque, although he has nearly recovered from his recent injury, will not play.
It has been announced that ticket number 10, the last in the season ticket book will admit men to the season-ticket section for this game.
